The ladies and gents arrived at 6pm and we talked about yarn, what’s new in the knitting world, how many balls of wool we have in our stash and what we were taking home. As if that wasn’t enough, we had a delivery of super fresh pizza to enjoy from next door. Knitting, Prosecco and Pizza – the perfect evening!
Becky from Ovis yarns talked about her dyeing process and where her inspiration comes from. As an abstract artist, her desire to paint with her yarn dictated the colours she uses, which are bright and bold. She uses only wool sourced and spun in the UK, supporting the British textile market. Her yarns are supported by her own patterns which were available on the night at a special event rate.
Lazykate yarns are dyed by Cathy who as you probably already know, works in the shop. Her yarns are dyed with a subtle palette, some speckled and some sparkle so the two ranges work well together and it’s supporting local indie dyers is something that KnitWise can be proud of.
For both these yarn ranges, patterns are available, both in-store and as downloads either to your email or we can print them off with a small printing charge. Patterns downloaded on the night included Aviendha by Melanie Berg, Knit Me by Louise Zass Bangham (a one skein project) and Short Row Scallops by Suvi Simola – links and photos below.
Our event nights are always lighthearted evenings where we can come together and share our passion for knitting and crochet – we’re already in the process of planning the next one, our only sadness is that we can’t fit more people in the shop!
